    Teen/Young Adult Book Binding Class at the Chesterton Art Center

    Jane Whedbee will be teaching a Teen/Young Adult Book Binding Class on Sunday, October 16 from 1-4. Students will learn about journal construction and walk out with a finished project.     Childhood Conversations: The Raising of America

    The Purdue University Northwest Center for Early Learning will host a five-night "Childhood Conversations" event that is part of a national conversation meant to engage the community in viewing and discussing the documentary film series, "The Raising of America." Individual segments of "The Raising of America" will be shown on Tuesdays Oct. 18, Nov. 1, 15 and 29 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the James B. Dworkin Student Services and Activities Complex on the Westville Campus. The program is free and open to the public. No registration is necessary.

    Our free classes are every Tuesday evening from 6:30 to 7:30pm. There is no need to pre-register or sign-up, you can just drop in. The FREE classes for October are: October 18th- Reflexology Workshop Certified massage therapist, Denise Morris gives an introduction to reflexology.  October 25th - Free Flow Yoga Class, join studio instructor Lindsey Powell for a gentle free flow yoga class! Suitable for all skill levels. We also have a great Yoga for Beginners Workshop coming up on October 22nd from 2 - 4pm. In this class you will learn basic body alignment, pose names, and more!     Rotary Annual Nelson's Chicken BBQ

    Chesterton-Porter Rotary Club will be selling Nelson's Delicious Chicken and Pork Chops Saturday Oct 22 from 10 am to 3 pm at the 1st Source Bank parking lot 1500 S Calumet Rd Chesterton. 1/2 chickens and 10 oz pork chops are $6.50 each. We will also be selling their Roasted New Potatoes for $3 a cup. On site sales, buy Tickets from a local Rotarian or call 219.395.1747. Individuals who pre-purchased tickets are reminded they need to get there by 1pm because remaining chickens and pork chops will be sold to the public. Proceeds go to support community projects, and local scholarships.

    Healthy Legs Live Longer

    Do you find yourself experiencing tired cramping legs or have a leg wound that won't heal? Peripheral vascular disease or peripheral arterial disease is a sign of calcium build up that gradually narrows the vessels in your legs. When an artery is blocked or narrowed, the part of the body supplied by that artery does not get enough blood/oxygen, a condition called ischemia. Critical limb ischemia can lead to heart attack, stroke and even leg amputation. Join Interventional Cardiologist Anas Safadi, MD, as he explains the signs, symptoms and treatments available for peripheral vascular disease and critical limb ischemia at 6 pm, Tuesday, Oct. 25 in the Auditorium at St. Mary Medical Center, 1500 S.
