Free Blood Pressure Screening at both Westchester Public Library Branches in January
NorthShore Health Center will provide free blood pressure screenings to walk-in patrons at both
branches of Westchester Public Library. Blood pressure screenings are offered each month at
the Hageman Branch on the second Thursday of the month, and the third Wednesday of the
month at the Thomas Branch. Registration is not necessary.
On Thursday, January 10 Hageman patrons can get their blood pressure screened from 10:00
a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at the Hageman Branch (please note the new time at Hageman.) Thomas
patrons may come to the Bertha Wood Meeting Room on the second floor of the Thomas
Branch, between the hours of 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 16 to get their
blood pressure taken.
Blood pressure is the pressure of the blood in the circulatory system, often measured for
diagnosis since it is closely related to the force and rate of the heartbeat and diameter and
elasticity of the arterial walls. In addition to the free blood pressure screenings, interested
patrons will receive help calculating their Body Mass Index (BMI).
The Hageman Branch is located at 100 Francis Street in Porter, and the Thomas Branch is
located at 200 W. Indiana Avenue in Chesterton.
