VALPARAISO, IN – Congressman Frank Mrvan and approximately 20 of his
campaign volunteers joined the VNA Meals on Wheels of Porter County program
for "Frank's Day of Action." Congressman Mrvan's visit highlighted the essential
role of volunteers in the Meals on Wheels program and the importance of
community support.
Congressman Mrvan and his volunteers partnered up with current VNA Meals on
Wheels of Porter County volunteers to deliver over 200 meals to seniors
throughout Valparaiso, including lunch for approximately 50 seniors at the Banta
Center. These fresh and nutritious meals were prepared by Pines Village
Retirement Communities.
During his visit, Congressman Mrvan emphasized the importance of volunteers to
the Meals on Wheels program and their value to the community. "The role that you
play in the community is immeasurable," said Mr. Mrvan. "It is absolutely the
volunteers that make the VNA Hospice, Pines, and Meals on Wheels a successful
program. We have to make sure we are rewarding productive programs within the
community.”
VNA Meals on Wheels of Porter County is one of the many ways that the VNA
Hospice of Northwest Indiana supports seniors and their families in the
community. The program relies on the support of volunteers to deliver nutritious
meals and provide social interaction to seniors who are unable to leave their
homes.
We are grateful to Congressman Mrvan and the volunteers for their support of
the VNA Meals on Wheels of Porter County program," said Bob Franko, President
and CEO of VNA Hospice NWI. Their dedication and commitment to serving our
community is inspiring, and we hope that their example will encourage others to
get involved and make a difference."
