The current pandemic has mas made many of us question what the future will look like when kids go back to school this fall. No matter what happens, it is important to make sure your children are healthy. NorthShore Health Centers is proactively working with families within the community to ensure children have the necessary defenses to protect them during this up coming school year.
School sports are starting up again July 1st. Students who do not have a sports physical on file with the Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) from 2019/2020 school year will require a sports physical/wellness exam. If your child is an upcoming freshman, transferring to a new school or did not play sports in 2019/2020, they will need to have a physical completed before beginning the sports season. NorthShore Health Centers is hosting a Sports Physical Clinic on June 27th from 7:30am – 11:30am at their Portage, Chesterton, Lake Station, Merrillville and Hammond clinics. All students will receive a free backpack with supplies with their sports wellness exam. Appointments are recommended but can be scheduled online by visiting https://northshorehealth.org/event/sports-physicals/ or calling 219-763-8112.
