Valparaiso, IN – Lauren Stearns, RN, from Northwest Health – Porter was recently honored with the
DAISY Award for exceptional nursing.
Stearns, a NICU nurse, was nominated by the father of newborn twins who wrote that she deserved to
be honored with this prestigious award not only because of how his family’s life was changed, but for
the countless other lives that she has touched, and all she does behind the scenes to love and support
her patients.
He went on to add that his sister is a nurse in Indianapolis, and he recalled her desire to win the Daisy
awards during her career – so he fully understood the importance this award is to the nursing
community and asked that Northwest Health – Porter do him the honor of selecting Stearns for the next
DAISY Award.
The DAISY Award was established to celebrate the extraordinary compassion that nurses provide their
patients and families every day. Nurses may be nominated by employees, patients and hospital visitors.
