Westchester Public Library presents our first ever Spelling Bee. This is a chance to redeem yourself for that misspelled word during your 5th-grade spelling bee. This is intended to be a fun and educational event that is open to the public with spectators welcome to attend as well. Prizes will be awarded to our finalists. Library staff word connoisseurs have raked through many a dictionary to compile a list of challenging words for each session. Advanced registration for those looking to participate in the spelling bee is highly encouraged. Study guides are available for registered spellers, which will include rules, FAQs, and words to study. WPL will host two sessions, one for teens (13-17) from 5-6:30 p.m., and one for adults (18+) from 7-8:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 30 at the Baugher Center. Pizza and refreshments will be served during our break, from 6:30 - 7 p.m. for spelling bee participants. A study session for overachievers will be held on Wednesday, November 6, 5:00 - 6:30 p.m. at the Thomas Branch’s Bertha Wood Meeting Room. To register or for more information, visit www.WPLspellingbee.Eventbrite.com or call the Thomas Branch Reference Department at (219) 926-7696 and ask to speak to Marta. The Baugher Center is located at 100 W. Indiana Ave., and the Thomas Branch of Westchester Public Library is located at 200 W. Indiana Ave. in Chesterton.
