The story behind National Coming Out Day.
NCOD is an annual LGBTQ+ awareness day observed on October 11, to support lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer (or sometimes questioning), and others., along with the "plus" representing other
sexual identities including pansexual and Two-Spirit, in their "coming out” process. First celebrated in the United States in 1988, the foundational belief is that homophobia thrives in an atmosphere of silence and ignorance, and that once people know that they have loved ones who are LGBTQ+, they are far less likely to maintain homophobic or oppressive views.
This event is a fundraiser for LGBTQ+ Outreach of Porter County, LTD a 501(c)(3) tax exempt, not-for-profit entity.
Sponsored by Sanctuary Skin Care + Wellness Spa & Sapori Stationery + Design
