Back by popular demand! Shirley Heinze Land Trust is looking for volunteers to help with seed cleaning. With the help of volunteers and staff, we have collected bags full of native seed from some of our preserves. After cleaning, this seed will be distributed to restoration areas where invasive species have been removed. The seed will help establish native vegetation, which in turn will help reduce the invasion by undesirable species. Cleaning the seed will help us to get better coverage and increase germination. Seed cleaning will take place at our Meadowbrook Conservation Center at 109 W 700 North, Valparaiso, IN. Seed cleaning can be dusty work and is not recommended for people with breathing problems. Please come out and join our staff and other like-minded volunteers to prepare this native seed for distributing this winter. Please RSVP to our Volunteer Coordinator Katy Botbyl at volunteer@heinzetrust.org or by calling our office at (219) 242-8558. We appreciate your consideration and look forward to working with you.
