Public Policy Committee Goal
The goal of the Public Policy Committee is to provide leadership and guidance on local and regional public policy issues, insuring the Duneland Chamber is proactive in advocation for business-friendly policies, engaging with elected officials, and keeping members informed of legislative and municipal developments.
Public Policy Committee Objectives
- Monitor local, county, and state legislative activity impacting businesses
- Identify Strategic Priorities. Currently, we have identified the following:
- Supporting Early Learning Childcare Initiatives for Workforce Development
- Supporting TIF and Abatement Incentives for Economic Development
- Provide recommendations to the Board of Directors on policy positions and draft letters of support for their approval.
- Serve as a liaison between Chamber members, elected officials, and planning/development authorities
- Facilitate educations and engagement opportunities for members on public policy matters

Committee Meetings
The Public Policy Committee meets to:
- Identify emerging issues impacting Chamber members
- Host conversations with community stakeholders
- Recommend advocacy strategies, educational programming, and public policy positions to Chamber leadership
Chamber Day at the Indiana Statehouse
Each year, the Duneland Chamber participates in the Indiana Statehouse to participate in Chamber Day. This statewide event includes tours of the statehouse, networking with other Chambers, updates on the Indiana Chamber's legislative agenda, and opportunities to meet directly with elected officials.
